1.QR Code=
Fraudsters have upgraded their methods to bypass security measures:
1.Remote Manipulation: Scammers impersonate bank officials or government authorities. They use video calls to provide “step-by-step guidance,” creating a false sense of trust and authority.
2.Screen Photographing: To bypass app restrictions that prevent screenshots, scammers trick victims into using a second phone to take a photo of a QR Code on their screen.
3.Instant Theft: Once they obtain the image of the QR Code, the scammers can complete payments or cash withdrawals within seconds. The process is so fast it is almost impossible to intercept.
Campus Security Center Reminders:
1.Your QR Code = The Key to Your Wallet: Treat every financial QR Code with the same caution as your physical wallet.
2.Payment & Withdrawal Codes ARE Cash: In the digital age, a payment or withdrawal code is functionally equivalent to handing over hard currency.
3.NEVER Share or Photograph: Absolutely do not take photos of your payment codes or send them to others, no matter who they claim to be.
