The long-awaited summer vacation is finally here, and many students are planning a variety of leisure activities. The Campus Security Center specifically reminds everyone that whether you are enjoying indoor entertainment, splashing around outdoors, or participating in summer camps, you must always make “safety” your top priority to ensure a happy and worry-free holiday!
1.Indoor Activities: Familiarize Yourself with the Environment and Stay Away from Improper Venues When visiting indoor venues such as libraries, movie theaters, department stores, KTVs, or concerts, please always locate and check the emergency evacuation routes and firefighting equipment (such as fire extinguishers and descenders) as well as their operation methods. At the same time, students must avoid visiting improper or inappropriate venues to prevent threats to personal safety.
2.Outdoor Drowning Prevention: Master the “4 Water Self-Rescue Techniques” and “On-Shore Rescue” Summer vacation is a high-risk period for drowning incidents; it must never be taken lightly! Students must become proficient in the “4 Water Self-Rescue Techniques”:
(1) Slap the Water Surface: Slap the water surface downwards with both hands horizontally and yell for help to draw attention through motion and sound.
(2) Utilize Floating Objects: Make use of available floating objects nearby, or take off your clothes and throw them from back to front over your head to trap air inside, creating a flotation device.
(3) Jellyfish Float: Take a deep breath, bury your face down in the water, let your hands and feet extend naturally downward, and completely relax your body.
(4) Survival Float (Back Float): Relax your entire body, fill your lungs with air, slowly tilt your head back, and use your mouth to “exhale quickly and inhale quickly” to exchange air.
If you unfortunately fall into the water fully clothed, evaluate the distance to see if you can swim back, or stay calm and strip off heavy clothing in the water in the specific order of “outerwear, shoes and socks, long pants, then shirt.” If you spot someone else drowning, strictly adhere to “On-Shore Rescue” (using your hands, legs, or reaching/throwing objects to help), and never enter the water blindly to rescue them!
3.Summer Camps and Orientation Camps: Respect Diversity and Ensure Contractual Protection When organizing or participating in department orientation camps or extracurricular camps, gender equality principles must be followed. Activity handbooks must prominently feature a “No Sexual Harassment” notice along with the campus grievance hotline, and pre-trip safety briefings must be thoroughly implemented.
In addition, students are reminded that before registering for off-campus camps, you must ensure a formal contract is signed with the operator. Review clauses regarding performance liabilities, safety, and legal compliance (standardized contract templates can be found in the Student Activities section of the “Senior High School Student Affairs Information and Activity Website”) to protect your rights.
We wish everyone a self-disciplined, safe, fulfilling, and joy-filled summer vacation!
